Vernacare helps lead the fight against Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

VERNACARE, a manufacturer of single-use, disposable healthcare solutions, has supplied infection control products to NHS Nightingale hospitals around the UK, to help the fight the spread of coronavirus.

Following the recent Covid-19 outbreak, buildings around the UK have quickly been transformed into field hospitals, to help ease the pressure on the NHS. Vernacare has supplied single-use toileting systems to Nightingale hospitals in London, Glasgow and Birmingham, to help ensure the highest standards of infection prevention.

The World Health Organization issued guidance for infection control equipment in response to the global pandemic, advising that all healthcare facilities use single-use and disposable products to help control the spread of infection. Vernacare’s disposable medical pulp containers and hospital macerators ensure that items such as bedpans and urinals are only used once by each patient, before being safely disposed of, eradicating the chance of any harmful microorganisms spreading.

These products are essential in protecting both healthcare professionals and patients from the risk of cross-infection. As a result, Vernacare has seen a significant increase in demand in the last few months since the WHO released its statement.

James Steele, Chief Executive Officer of Vernacare said: “We’ve had to adapt as a business to the changes in the marketplace during these unprecedented times. Our range of products has a role to play in the healthcare setting to halt the spread of Covid-19 and as a result, global demand has increased. We have moved to seven days a week production at our sites in the North West and the response of our team has been magnificent. We are also working with our supply chain to ensure a continuous supply of materials and consistent quality. Our Service Engineers are very much on the front line, going into Trusts installing additional macerators into dedicated COVID-19 wards”.

The company has been working nonstop to support both the NHS and healthcare facilities globally and are proud to be able to play such a vital part in the response to the pandemic.
