'Great to support a British manufacturer' – Nuffield hospital selects Pland products

NUFFIELD Health Hospital Sterilisation Services Unit in Wetherby has become one of the latest customers of British manufacturer, Pland Stainless, having taken delivery of two made to measure endoscopy sinks, a work station and transfer hatch.

Pland has become a specialist in producing bespoke designed, stainless steel, sterile services equipment for the Healthcare market. Based in Leeds and therefore ideal for UK supply, they have been creating products in stainless steel since 1919. The material in which they specialise is perfect for these units being hardwearing, easy to clean, recyclable and naturally hygienic.

The centre in Wetherby is one of seven HSSU in the Nuffield Health division, working 24/7 throughout the year, offering decontamination services for re-usable medical devices and surgical instruments.

The Wetherby unit commissioned Pland to make two Endoscopy Sinks 1800x650mm with double bowl and welded stands, largely for pre-washing Flexi scopes. Also a work station 1650x650mm on a mobile welded stand, all designed to suit their allocated space.

The transfer hatch was also a bespoke design allowing items to be passed through to a neighbouring ‘clean room’ beyond the washroom. It specifically caters for items that can’t be loaded into the automatic dual doored washing machines, such as the Endoscope tray, to be passed through from hand wash and also its packaging.

Vicki Johnson, Unit Manager commented on the Pland products: “We have been really pleased with the products supplied by Pland Stainless. They designed them to our specification and sizes to cater for the handwashing section of our unit and they have made the whole process of supply very easy.  The product is great quality and really functional and it’s good to know we are supporting a  British manufacturer.”
